Welcome back gents,
Listen, we’re all adults here, alright. If the words masturbation, porn, sex, etc. bother you then this post probably isn’t for you. Then again, if it bothered you, you wouldn’t have opened it in the first place..
Anyways, I recall during my hair loss journey the insane number of times I googled this question. I always read mixed things, ranging from scientific evidence to personal anecdotes. Honestly, the battle is split on this one, so all I can do is to share my experience with you.
So delving right into it, yes, I believe masturbation affected my hair loss. Let me be very clear, this is just my experience. I think my hormones and hair follicles were much more sensitive to masturbation than the average person so your mileage may vary.
Here’s why I believe this. First, I didn’t actually start masturbating until I was a sophomore in college – around 19 years. Was I late bloomer? Yup. Do I give a f*ck? Nope. Anyways, sophomore year is also the same time I noticed my hair loss. Up until then, I had never had this problem. Suddenly, one morning sophomore year (definitely after I had started masturbating), I woke up and noticed a lot of hair on my girlfriend’s bed. Now, this might be coincidence, but I kid you not, I had never experienced even the slightest amount of thin or falling hair prior to that semester. And definitely not at the rate my hair was shedding.
However, this could be coincidence, and to be honest, the link between masturbation and hair loss never really crossed my mind at the time. Honestly, I didn’t even realize I was losing my hair until many months later. So yeah, sophomore year is when my hair loss was triggered. This kept on going throughout until the summer but I didn’t really pay much attention to it.
That summer was fortunate to have an internship at a company nearby. That summer, is when I realized, I was getting f*cked by the genetic lottery. I walk into work one morning and a fellow-intern pointed out that I’m losing my hair. Automatically, I had the typical “WTF are you smoking?” reaction, at which point, she pointed out my collar.
Man, I remember this like it was yesterday. I was wearing a Green dress shirt and I kid you not, it was FULL — I mean FULL — of small hairs all around the collar. There were hundreds of small hairs on my collar and that is when I realized I was losing hair. I didn’t realize it at the time but boy was I engaging in some excessive masturbation. I mean I was going 2x, sometimes 3x a day. Some of you might find this normal — I promise, if you are masturbating this many times a day, your hormone and body’s chemical balances are f*cked up. Please lower it down. I’m all about healthy masturbation and rubbing one out when you gotta do the do, but it has to be done in moderation. Please do some research and get it down to a healthy level.
Anyways, getting back to the story. I was fapping 2/3x a day. However, since the times this work incident happened, is when I truly began to realize I was losing hair. And I was losing that shit fast — it didn’t look like it if you saw me on the streets, but every time I washed my hair, or combed my hand over my head, there was an unfathomable amount of hair falling out. I started the journey of researching hair loss and ways to prevent it. I started applying coconut oil couple times a week and I think it helped thicken my existing hair, but didn’t really prevent my hair from falling out.
This continued on for a couple of months, all the while my fapping continued. One day, I came across an article linking masturbation and hair loss article. That’s when the freaking light bulb finally went on. The only consistent thing I was doing from the time my hair loss started to that day had been masturbation.
I can honestly say from that day onwards my hair loss journey changed. I went from excessive masturbation to rubbing it out a few times a week. The goal was to eventually reach 0 and see if it would affect my hair. It took a couple of months, and I finally did stop masturbating for weeks at a time, but that’s a story for another day. Let me share with you my experiences at the time.
First, it should be noted, that whenever I fapped, I would have this tingling sensation on my scalp. I don’t know why dumb, porn-looking a$$ didn’t figure out this connection before. That sign was definitely indication that masturbation was linked with my scalp/follicle health. So over the course of a few months, as I drastically reduced my masturbation, did my hair loss slow?
You know what, it actually did. Did it stop? Nope. No matter what I did, even after abstaining from masturbation, my hair loss continued forward. But honestly, I assure you that the amount of hair I was losing, had drastically reduced. After some weeks of doing this, my hair and scalp did feel more nourished.
Once I had reduced my masturbation frequency is when I began researching products to improve scalp hair. I bought some of the high quality shampoo/conditioners (listed here) available along with a bunch of different supplements to try (more on this on another post). These products coupled with my reduced masturbation improved my scalp health TREMENDOUSLY. The relief you feel when you see less hair in the sink is amazing.
However, like I said before, it did not stop my hair loss, merely slowed it down. At the time, that was good enough for me. I honestly just wanted to make it past college without worrying about being bald. Honestly, it should be good enough for you too.
So in summary, what did I learn? Honestly, I don’t know if masturbation will affect your hair or not. Cutting it back definitely helped slow mine down, and that’s all I can share with you in order to have you make an informed decision. If you don’t think your hair loss and masturbation are linked — fine. I definitely think that’s possible. However, if you are excessively masturbating, I highly, highly recommend you take your foot of the gas. Excessive fapping has a much higher correlation with your hair loss than you would imagine. Also, it’s f*cking up your hormones man. Please slow if down, if not for your hair, then at least for your overall energy and health.
Anyways, going off on a rant. Hope this sheds some light on the topic. In summary, yes, cutting back masturbation definitely slowed MY hair loss, but no, it did not stop it. I also believe starting masturbation was what triggered my hair loss since my body must be very sensitive to the effects of orgasming. Surprisingly though, after shaving my head, when I rub one out every few weeks, I no longer feel that tingling sensation in my scalp. Not sure if this is because I shave my head and the hair follicles have already miniaturized or if it’s because I’m only engaging in it once every few weeks, which I definitely think is healthy.
Again, going off on a tangent, but I hope this post shed some light on this. There’s a lot of beliefs as I said so do what you feel is best. My suggestion would be: try quitting masturbation for 2 weeks — see if you feel a difference in your scalp.
If you do, great, quit masturbation completely if you’re one of those types, or just engage in it less frequently. If you don’t then fap whenever you want (in moderation though, please).
That’s all for now, folks. As always, best of luck with this journey.
